Secretary Report: Mo was MIA so
Mike read the minutes of the last meeting. Lea motioned to
accept the minutes as read and Todd seconded.
Treasurer Report: Rusty was MIA so
Mark read this month’s financial statement – the statement was
accepted as read.
Products Report: We have 42 Field Events
t-shirts and 5 sweatshirts left and we have Motorcycle Awareness
signs as well.
State Report: Rusty & Mo attended
the June State meeting. Mark reported on Rusty’s notes in detail
and the minutes from the State meeting in the newsletter. A
district reporter is needed for each district. Mark volunteered
“Mike the Web Guy” for the job and Mike agreed to accept the
position.
Asst. Rep. Report: Todd is arranging
for people to work stops 2 through 5 for the upcoming 4 County
Poker Run on July 19th with some assistance from Pat
Howard, Dustin Madere, and Steve Peterman. Rusty, Mo, Mike & Deb
will work the first stop.
Atchison Co Rep Report: Pat was MIA
Brown Co. Rep Report: Dustin
mentioned the upcoming Poker Run and is working toward getting
people to work the Brown County stop.
Doniphan Co. Rep Report: Steve
stated that Sue is raising money to paint the VFW building in
Wathena and is asking for assistance. She is also having a
benefit Hog Roast for Greg Vertin on July 12th. Tim
motioned to donate toward painting the VFW building and Todd
seconded. Everyone agreed.
Leavenworth Co. Rep Report: Rusty
was MIA but Mark had his notes. Flyers for the poker run are on
the website. Rusty will coordinate with the other county reps
to make sure all stops for the upcoming 4 County Poker Run are
covered, contact Ten Penny to confirm the date of the Poker Run,
and handle all paperwork needed for the run. Insurance for the
Poker Run has already been taken care of.
Webmaster Report: Mike reported that
everything is updated on the site. Todd asked if we can put
videos on the site.
Old Business: The quilt that Betsy
is making will be raffled off at the 4 County Poker Run. Todd
motioned to use the two donated Harley T-shirts as a give away
at the 4 County Poker Run. Motion was seconded and approved by
everyone.
New Business: At the request of
state, we will start staggering district board member terms.
The Assistant District Rep, Treasurer, Brown County Rep, and
Doniphan County Rep terms will be reset. These positions will
be up for election this fall. The new board members will start
the next term January 1, 2009. The current terms for District
Rep, Secretary, Atchison County Rep, and Leavenworth County Rep
will end on schedule December 31, 2009. This will ensure that
half the board is elected each year, rather than all board
members being replaced at the same time. Tim motioned for this
change and Todd seconded. Everyone approved.
Todd motioned and Lea seconded that the
Southern District Poker Run be scheduled for Sept 27th.
Everyone approved. The Poker Run will start and end at Cyclone
Bar in Leavenworth. Mark at Cyclone Bar is also interested in
hosting a pool and dart tournament sometime this year.
Mark asked about reinstating the Sergeant
of Arms position. Steve suggested appointing a temporary
Sergeant of Arms for each meeting. It was decided the county rep
of the meeting location would be responsible for these duties.
If the county rep is not present, that responsibility falls to
the Assistant District Rep. This was approved by all.
Mark mentioned that everyone liked the new
trophy design. It was decided that we will continue using the
new design for future events.
Tim motioned that we use Mary’s art for
t-shirts next year for Field Events (pending her approval) and
Red seconded. Everyone agreed.
Lea suggested that we need to offer tank
tops. Tim suggested including tank tops in our next district
shirts purchase. Lea motioned to include tank tops in the next
district order and Todd seconded. Everyone agreed.
The district decided to purchase two-way
radios for events. Steve motioned to buy 10 radios Mike
seconded. Mark is handling this and he will price ear pieces
also.
There was discussion about the purchase of
additional speakers for our PA system. Mark and Rusty will price
the equipment.
The District 11 Trailer is too small -
everyone will keep watch for good deal on a larger trailer.
